- Who we are
- Appleseed is a nationwide 501(c)3 education non-profit, focused on teaching the finest fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and American history
- Marksmanship Component
- The marksmanship component is centered around the Rifleman's Quarter Mile: if you can see it with the naked eye, you should be able to hit it. From 0-400 yards, with open sights, rack grade rifle, and surplus ammo, without bench rest or bipod. To that end we teach the skills Riflemen of this country have used for generations: the 6 steps to firing the shot, natural point of aim, proper sling use, range estimation, and wind doping. That said, the shooting on the scheduled dates will take place at 25 yards, at scaled down targets to allow for more time for instruction and shooting, so while you can bring any rifle/sighting system you like, most folks will be using semi-auto .22's.
- American History Component
- The American History component consists of stories told throughout the weekend that focus on the events of April 19th, 1775, the first battle of Lexington and Concord, the events that preceded it, and the consequences of that fateful day. We'll discuss the choices and sacrifices made by the founding generation, and what could inspire a bunch of farmers, blacksmiths, and shopkeepers to stand up to the most powerful army in the world, and what caused them to win the day.
- Who Can Come We
- welcome families and all ages safe to handle a rifle with supervision, and shooters of all experience levels. We are a non-partisan, non-political organization (a good way to introduce your non-shooting friends/family/co-workers to safe firearms handling and give them an appreciation for our shared heritage).
